Riskex Reflections on a Friday #13: How can we view accountability as a positive experience rather than one of blame?

Contents of blog

SHP recently published an insightful article authored by Zoe Nation, exploring how to positively encourage employees to take accountability.  Our key takeaways to reflect on are:

  • Performance change is more significant following positive reinforcement than negative.  It’s important to create a shared forward-looking accountability rather than backwardly looking to blame.
  • When having conversations with employees about Accountability, Ask them what accountability looks and feels like to them, in practical terms.
  • Encouraging employees to take ownership requires you to build trust rather than judge.
