How to demonstrate compliance and show commitment to continual improvement

ISO 45001 is the International Management System Standard for Occupational Health and Safety. Demonstrate compliance and show your commitment to continual improvement using AssessNET.

Our ISO 45001 software allows you to build safe systems of work, perform audits and inspections, manage remedial tasks and identify opportunities for improvement, all whilst maintaining full version control for document management.

ISO 45001 provides a framework to help reduce unacceptable risks in the workplace. When implemented effectively, the Standard helps you to create a robust risk management culture by engaging anyone involved in your business activities to take ownership of health and safety practices and processes.

Read on to learn how AssessNET’s modules and features combine to deliver ISO 45001 compliance.

Considerations for ISO 45001

number 1

ISO 45001 requires a strong focus on addressing the needs of external stakeholders, including the communities in which you operate.

As a holistic health and safety management system, AssessNET enables you to capture health and safety data and monitor performance KPIs that impact on your stakeholder groups.  You can also show that your management of safety-related risk extends to those outside your organisation.  Use AssessNET’s Audit module to simply and quickly design your own audit question sets to ensure that you capture and respond to the needs of external parties.

ISO 45001 provides a driver for you to focus on continual improvement.

AssessNET has been designed to drive proactivity in health and safety management, guiding you to look for opportunities to improve, as well as address non-conformances.  For example, our Incident Management module includes a “root cause analysis” feature.  Additionally, AssessNET is underpinned by flexible yet sophisticated data management tools, enabling you to drill down into data sets where ideas for improvement have been captured.

ISO 45001 requires you to account for how suppliers and contractors are managing their risks.

Use AssessNET’s Contractor Management module to scrutinise activities carried out by contractors and suppliers, ensuring that they remain compliant with your contractual requirements, as well as their legal duties.  Compliance questionnaires can be created according to the nature of their work or sector, and a real-time dashboard shows areas of non-compliance and schedules for remedial actions.  Together with AssessNET’s Task Manager, this module streamlines supply chain compliance by providing you with visibility of compliance concerns and helping you demonstrate control of related risks.

ISO 45001 stipulates that “documented information” must be maintained to the extent necessary to have confidence that health and safety processes are being followed as planned.

You can rest assured that AssessNET’s document management capabilities are fully compliant with the requirements of ISO 45001. As well as providing effective storage for documents and files relating to health and safety processes, the system has a full audit trail, not only for data held in the system, but also activity logs for associated files.  These activity logs create a permanent register of every instance where users edit records or make key changes, such as undertaking reviews.  Historical archived versions of records are also retained.

ISO 45001 focuses on identifying and controlling risks rather than hazards.

AssessNET’s Risk Assessment module enables you to identify, manage and mitigate safety-related business risk.  This helps you fulfil your “duty of care” obligations and demonstrate effective controls as part of your ISO 45001 Management System.  The Standard requires you to understand Health and Safety risk in the context of your organisation’s specific activities, and AssessNET’s data analysis tools show how you are meeting your health and safety objectives.

ISO 45001 specifies the need for effective monitoring, measurement, analysis and performance evaluation.

In order to comply with ISO 45001, you need a systematic approach to monitoring and measuring health and safety performance.  This should cover compliance with legal obligations, progress against your health and safety objectives and analysis of the effectiveness of operational controls.

AssessNET’s powerful Business Intelligence (BI) platform provides sophisticated data analysis to demonstrate performance against objectives, with visually captivating graphing outputs.
