Every year, World Patient Safety Day brings the global health community together to reaffirm one shared goal: reducing avoidable harm in healthcare.
This year’s theme is “Safe care for every newborn and every child” where the World Health Organization is highlighting the unique vulnerabilities of children and the urgent need to eliminate risks in paediatric and neonatal care.
The focus: Child and newborn safety
Children, especially newborns, rely entirely on others to keep them safe. Their conditions can deteriorate quickly, and they are more susceptible to the consequences of unsafe care, whether that’s from delayed diagnosis, medication errors, lack of monitoring, or communication breakdowns.
According to WHO this year’s campaign calls for stronger systems that:
- Improve visibility of risks across paediatric and neonatal settings
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, not blame
- Empower families to participate in safety and decision-making
- Invest in technology that supports staff in delivering safer, faster care
How Riskex and AssessNET support safer care
At Riskex, we support healthcare providers in building safer environments by strengthening the systems that underpin care delivery.
AssessNET offers a suite of digital tools designed to improve oversight, accountability and responsiveness. Key modules include:
- Hazard Reporting – to capture and act on risks proactively
- Incident & Accident Management – to track, investigate and learn from safety events
- Safety Audits – to monitor compliance and drive continuous improvement
By making risk visible and action measurable, we help healthcare teams keep their focus where it matters most—on delivering safe care, every time.
